Before joining the firm, Esmeralda served as Administrative Counsel for the Superintendent of Broward County Schools. She provided legal guidance to district leadership on employment disputes, policy implementation, and administrative litigation, including matters before the Division of Administrative Hearings.

Esmeralda previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in the 15th Judicial Circuit, where she litigated more than 25 jury trials and 10 bench trials. She is recognized for her strong courtroom presence, clear legal writing, and ability to translate complex issues into practical, actionable advice for clients.

She earned her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, an M.A. from the University of Chicago in Comparative Religious Studies, and a B.A. in Political Science & Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude) from Elmhurst College. A former dual-language educator, she is bilingual in English and Spanish and proficient in Italian and French. She enjoys language study in her free time and is currently studying Hebrew.
